Money is important but having mechanics assigned to you means your chances of performing well are higher, right? Usually, offering more money will help the drivers make up their mind but money is not always the only thing they are interested in. How much money are you offering the driver for all those races? Longer contracts mean the drivers will probably require a better deal to sign the contract. The default value is 10 races but it can be decreased down to 5 or up to 15. This is the number of races the driver will be hired for. Note that patience can be increased by 1 via HQ research. Losing all points means you are no longer able to negotiate with this driver for 10 races. If your offer is not good enough, the driver will lose one point of patience.
